Mission and Objectives MEDIN aims to promote coordination and availability of marine environmental data across departments and agencies in the UK. The objectives of MEDAG are: to develop, maintain and make available inventories of data, to develop guidelines for data management, to improve mechanisms to facilitate data exchange (including contributing UK data to global databases), to evaluate national and international policies that may influence marine environmental data management in the UK and provide information and advise to partners of MEDAG.
Mandate MEDIN operates under the umbrella of the Inter-Agency Committee for Marine Science and Technology (IACMST). IACMST reports to the Department of Environment Fisheries and Rural Affairs, Chief Scientific Adviser. MEDIN is a not-for-profit consortium with representatives from public and private organisations.

Previous Experience relevant for INSPIRE development Lesley Rickards has been involved through the European Seasearch project which is a registered SDIC, however she was not chosen as an expert on any of the drafting teams. Various involvement from other MEDIN members. Mark Charlesworth has been involved in a number of UK meetings (including on with the UK drafting team) and is involved in a number of initiatives to improve and coordinate access of marine data in the UK. As such I have experience in metadata schemas and a background in oceanographic geographical features.
