Description
SDIC Title REGIONAL CENTER OF COMPETENCE ENVIROMENTAL RISK ANALYSIS AND MONITORING
Acronym AMRA
Details
Mission and Objectives AMRA is a project aiming at creating a permanent structure of research and development of innovative methods applied to environmental problems. The main objectives of the Center can be shortly summarized as follows: to create a synergy between the high level competences belonging to the various structures operating in Campania in the field of the analysis and the management of the environmental risk; to develop methods to approach the problem of risks in a comprehensive and quantitative way, giving public authorities comparative estimates of different typologies of risk in different areas as a basis for mitigation actions, land use or urban plans; to take part in European and National Programmes; to develop basic training programmes related to the sustainable town planning, the proper construction or renovations of structures, the monitoring of the environmental impact of human activities, with the aim of developing land management capacity in public and private sectors. The final goal of the project is to set up a Company. The incorporation is expected in May/June 2005
Mandate The Center is a project funded by the Campania Region through the provision 3.16 of the Regional Operating Programme as provided for by the” Plan for the innovation development in the Campania Region”
Formal Mandate Regional Government
Main Activities Research projects supported by regional, National, European and International funds; workshops; Technological transfer (starting up preliminary contacts with industries of the sector, establishing connections with the enterprises, defining the transfer operating modes, assisting the industries in technological innovations, facilitating the access to laboratories and to information exchanges, spin-off of industries, promoting and developing the training aimed at introducing qualified intellectual resources of the environmental sector on the job market).

Typology Regional Thematic
Comments Campania Region (Italy) is highly exposed to natural risks. The main activities to be carried out in the near future are: “to improve prediction and integrated hazards- vulnerability - and risks assessments for disasters related to geological hazards (such as earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis) and climate (such as storms and floods); to develop early warning systems and improve prevention and mitigation strategies” (Proposal for the seventh framework programme of the European Community for research, technological development and demonstration activities 2007 to 2013)
