Main Activities The Landesbetrieb Geoinformation und Vermessung (LGV Hamburg) - Agency for Geo-Information and Surveying - is responsible for the production and publication of the official maps and for keeping the official land register in Hamburg.

Spatial data and services are a prerequisite for all cadastre, planning and building purposes. LGV Hamburg, an agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment, provides these services. With about four hundred employees working in four divisions (administration, geo information, surveying and geo data services) LGV Hamburg is responsible for Hamburg’s Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) including INSPIRE and the Metropolitan Region (SDI-MRH), and maintenance of cadastral data. LGV Hamburg is the coordination centre for all these SDI activities like consulting, data collection and digitization, operation and maintenance of the geoportal.

Previous Experience relevant for INSPIRE development LGV Hamburg has the leadership in the field of SDI including INSPIRE in Hamburg. LGV Hamburg is one project partner of the eContentplus Project "Plan4all" (2009-2011). The objective of Plan4all is to build a network of local, regional and national public bodies, organisations dealing with planning issues and regional development, to find consensus about harmonisation of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for spatial planning according to the INSPIRE Directive and also to contribute to standardisation of related Spatial Data Themes from the INSPIRE Annexes. Mr. Kai-Uwe Krause (contact person of the LGV for the RegInSpire proposal) is member of the INSPIRE data specification "Thematic Working Group" for INSPIRE Annex III Theme "Land use". The INSPIRE data specifications will constitute the foundation for the INSPIRE Implementing Rules laying down the technical arrangements for the interoperability and harmonisation of spatial data sets elated to the themes listed in the Annex II and III of the INSPIRE Directive (2007/2/EC), according to the provisions of Art. 7.
