Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the UK Ministry of Defence Organisation responsible for the management of the defence estate – some 240,000 hectares of land in the UK (plus overseas). The estate supports the operational, training and accommodation needs of the Armed Services. DE is responsible for developing policy and providing guidance on environmental issues and sustainable development for the built and rural estate. This covers areas such as conservation, transport, waste, archaeology, the marine environment, public access and biodiversity. |
