Formal Mandate By the instruction of Mr. Tomasz Siemoniak Secretary of State and a vice minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, 08 Jan 2008, DCEAP-GK-691-4-5573/2007, the Surveyor General of Poland is responsible for conducting necessary actions in regard to transposition of INSPIRE Directive into Polish law in respect to the procedure implemented by the European Committee of the Cabinet of Ministers.

By the instruction, dated at 6 Jun 2007 - SPP-806/07, of Mr. Piotr Piętak Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, - Surveyor General of Poland is appointed as a National Contact Point for communication with the European Commission in regard to the INSPIRE Directive.
Main Activities ­ Supervision of implementation of national policy in geodesy and cartography;
­ Management of central geodetic and cartographic data resources;
­ Establishment of basic geodetic, gravimetric and magnetic systems (networks);
­ Elaboration of principles concerning technical and organisational preparations to set up a cadastre, and to cooperate in its establishing;
­ Management of the national register of borders and territory of the Republic of Poland and its separate provinces;
­ Preservation of records of land information systems of national importance and cooperation with other government departments in establishing and managing geographic information systems;
­ Initiation of scientific and research and development work concerning organisational and technical standards and also applying IT, photogrammetric and satellite methods in geodesy and cartography and also in the national land information system;
­ Cooperation with geodesy and cartography administration bodies at province level in performing:
- photogrammetric pictures of the country’s surface,
- topographic maps,
- thematic maps,
- photogrammetric elaborations,
­ Drawing up principles concerning consultations on situating planned land technical utilities systems.
