Comments GT-EIEL is a working group with members coming from: Ministry for Public Administrations, Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, Autonomous Governments and Local (provincial) Administrations.

EIEL is a huge database containing information on demography, housing, transportation networks, water supply, sewage, urban and land planning, designated natural areas, health, social care, education and culture services, administrative premises, civil protection, markets and fairs, solid waste disposal, etc. Must of these data may be included within INSPIRE Annexes I, II and III.

This data must be captured, maintained and updated by provincial and island councils.

From 2005, its updating frequency has beeen improved to that of once per year. And GT-EIEL has promoted the swift from a merely alphanumerical database to a spatial one, with some provincial councils being implementing also time variable.

In a couple of months, EIEL database will be legally converted into a permanent Census.
